Hi!
Is Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz as fast as a AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 Ghz?
I am getting this computer HP DC5100 MT with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz and 1 GB of RAM for $80 to stream videos to my TV. I will add an HD Graphics card as well so I can connect through HDMI.
I was wondering, is this faster or at least as fast as my current AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 Ghz on my HP Pavilion 1017n?

I really appreciate your help. Thank you.

That's what I don't really know. Thing is the seller is selling them on ebay (seems to be "reputable") and they are already built and guaranteed to be working.
The question is, will it perform the way it should?
Maybe somebody else can shed some light on the chipset and support of c2d.

Thank you for your input. Let' s see if we can find out about that.

I just found on this link that it only supports the following processors: Pentium 4, Celeron D. So what are we missing here? Is it possible for a dual core 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU to work? I doubt the seller would sell it not working. I am lost now.

Could it be that the seller meant DC5700 and no DC5100? The DC5700 has a Intel 963Q Express chip and supports Intel Core 2 Duo

Nevermind, the seller admitted there was a mistake and they are Pentium 4...not C2D. I won't buy it.

Thank you so much for your help. You guys are great.
