Hi,

I have Inspiron 530 desktop from DELL with a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 normally at 2,33ghz(stock clock), but mine I dont know why, is set at 1,95ghz with x6 multiplier when normally is x7. And when I do a stress test on the CPU is stay at 1,95ghz and show a overclock info -15%. FSB and Bus Speed seems to be ok. When I enter the BIOS and on system info the CPU is at 2,33ghz, on windows vista show 2,33ghz to.

My spec ;

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200

6GB of RAM DDR2 800mhz

ATI PoerColor Radeon 4890 DDR5 1GB

500W PSU from PC Power & Cooling

Motherboard info ; - Dell Inc.
- Model 0FM586
- Chipset Intel P35/G33/G31 Rev. A2
- Southbridge Intel 82801IR (ICH9R)
- LPCIO ITE IT8718

And I use the lastest BIOS from DELL (1018)

I will buy soon a new motherboard because, I think myself is because DELL have set the clock speed lower to not use so much power or have been badly setted in the BIOS before locking evrything.

So please I need help to know if is the fault of the motherboard that dell used or is the fault of my CPU.

P.S. I hope is the fault of my motherboard! lol

THANK YOU for your help I appreciate!

You might have Intel speedstep enabled in the Bios,This setting lowers the cpu frequency when the full cpu power is not required.

Try turning that off and save the settings in the bios.

Thank You for your solution, but the problem now, is I cant have any acces to advanced BIOS command and if am worng I can have acces to Intel speedstep, please tell me how to get there. My motherboard BIOS is locked.

You should be able to enter the Bios....usualy F2 or delete.

Just press keep pressing either of those two,Try F2 first and you should get into the bios.

Then all you have to do is disable it...F10 to save changes and exit.

I can enter the bios with f2 but my motherboard bios is locked so I dont see the speedstep anywhere and dont see any overclocking feature.

Solve, the problem it is in windows vista you can control the ammouth of energy you used, I have putted it to low so energy effiency to max so it was stocked at 1,95GHz. I putted it back to normal and evrything is ok idle 1,95GHz and load over 50% 2,33GHz.

Thank You!
