Intel e6850 3.0 1333 vs. intel Q6600 2.4 1066??

Ok so i'm in the process of getting custom built pc and i'm curious which one of these processors would be better off for me...i do tend to have alot of programs running at one time and i do play alot of 3d animated games, like the sims..i want this computer to last me for at least a good two years or more, so i'm just curious if quad is the way to go?...any suggestions?...thanks:o
 
Quad'll work better with multitasking, e6850 will work better on single apps, as most apps n' games are unsuited for two cores yet let alone four. Buuut we will see a boom of multi-threaded apps and games (i.e able to take advantage of a multi-core) soon.


uhhh.. Q6600 is what you should get IMO.
 
if you look at things such as video editing and processing the Q6600 simply blows the E6850 away, it copes far better. However the E6850 does game better at the moment for the reasons stated above. But as also mentioned above as applications and games etc begin to take use of multiple cores the Q6600 will start to improve.
