I am going to build a new gaming com. But I cant decided if I should get intel or amd. Can you guys please recommen me a good processor for gaming? Whats the best gaming processor in market right now? Just curious whats the best and most expansive gaming processor?

Do you want to pay a lot? Go Intel. Do you have a budget? Then go AMD.

I got no budget. Only thing is that if core A is 1k usd and core B is 200usd but the 1k core is only 5% better then the core 200 then of course I would go for the 200.

lets say if I got no budget and I decided to go for the most expansive one. What model of intel would it be? For gaming. Can u please provide me the model so that I can go do some research?

Why not just get the i5 4670K? Intel quad-core, very overclockable, and much cheaper than the i7s. And you won't really notice a difference in games between the two of them.

The money you save by not getting an i7 you should put into getting a better graphics card - because THAT is where the performance lies in games.

Isn't a 4690K the exact same price?
i5-4690K, 8GB 1866-2400MHz, GTX 780 is a very good price/performance base for a high end system.
ASUS just came out with a Striker version of the GTX 780, which is very interesting. Their budget-medium range motherboards also seem superior to the others, only in high end Gigabyte and MSI seems to challenge them.

For only $100 more you get:

4.0GHz vs 3.4GHz
8MB Cache vs 6MB
Hyper Threading vs none (double the virtual cores)

In the grand scheme of a gaming desktop, $100 is pennies. I'd get the same graphics card and just spend the $100 more.

That would be their GTX 780 Ti.

Just get whatever is the latest. I keep losing track of them.

True Geoff, but if you can save money and not lose out on a lot then you may as well just get the i5. You're not gonna notice a difference between 6 and 8MB of cache and you could buy an awesome cooling setup for the $100 you saved and get a 4670K or a 4690K to well over 4.0GHz. And as for HT, yeah it's nice but for gaming 4 cores is enough.

But if money is no object, then just get a 4960X, right? ;)

Or if you must have the i7, get the 4770K or the 4790K or whatever's the latest one today...

If we get down to the best for the money, step that i5 down to a lower model or even an i3, and step 16GB of RAM down to 8GB, the stepping down never ends ;)

If he was on a strict <$1000 budget I'd agree with you, but if he just wants an awesome gaming computer and doesn't care if he spends $2,000 or $2,100, get the i7.
