intel or amd processor? please help. cant decide.

If its only for gaming the 4670k or the 4690k is good enough.
If and I say If in the future you want to render or editing, then the i7 is better, and then go for the 6 cores like the 4930k its more the 5% faster in rendering and editing then the 4970k

What do you have now?

X99 stuff supposedly comes out around September. It'd probably give you a little more longevity for your money if you're building a new full rig and have a flexible budget, assuming your current PC isn't a huge turd and makes you rage at the mere thought of turning it on.
 
yea the i7 is really the only way to go with a budget that big. plus the 4x90k processors have better tim under the ihs. and a better pcb with more stable voltage regulators as well, spaced out to run cooler.

my 4770k before I delidded it (in my htpc) hit 100c and throttled at 4.4ghz and slight overvoltage. my 4790k doesn't even require delidding and it doesn't go over 75c in prime 95 @ 4.6ghz

so yes, getting the newer one matters.
 
get the best cpu you can get, the best there is the xeon but they are really quite stupidly expensive so get the best i7 possible.

its either that or wait untill intel bring out the new 5th gen processors when then come out, supposedly before the end of the year but dont know for sure. new ddr4 ram has just started coming out and the new gtx 860,870 and 880 will be coming out next year so id get a gtx 780ti for now if you can afford.

i can get my 3770k to run 4.5ghz at 60c on prime95 so if you get a good cooler then overclocking shouldnt be a problem for you.

maybe consider waiting for the new ddr4 ram and 5th gen intel i7's too if your thinking about the very best.

im doing my new build when all the new stuff comes out :)
