Hey guys, i"m just trying to decide which of these are gonna be a bigger bang for my buck. They are within $60 of each other and just want to know what you guys think. I'm leaning towards the p4 becasue for now, it would perform better...but in the future i feel the dual core would push ahead. What do you guys think?

The dual core chip is really nice, how much do you multitask?

Unless your only going to be gameing, then the Pentium D would be better now.

Even though the single core chip will pull ahead somewhat in single threaded games it won't be noticeable. Simply put, the P4D will run games way better than the single chip will multitask so to speak. So IMO the D chip is the best choice no matter what tasks he's doing.

Hmm the pentiumD isnt behind by all that much (400Mhz isnt all that hard to compensate for, at least partially via OCing) and since you do lots of video edting, i would definitively go with the dualcore route. What is your budget exactly? :)

As praetor said, since your going to be doing alot of video editing, i would get a Dual-Core. If you want a cheaper priced cpu, then go with the Pentium D, but if price isnt a huge issue go with an AMD X2 4XXX series cpu, since it outperforms a Pentium D at video editing.
