is there a better cpu than this one for about the same price i would like a p4 with ht also what is a good reliable and very compatible motherboard for this one or any other cpu you recommend

Going the way of socket 478 is old techa nd being phased out, i suggest looking into lga775, also with the pressy 478 they had many heat issues.

I have that exact chip

its nice but id much rather have gone to the AMD side of things

ill sell you my rig if you want

Those heat issues could easily be controlled with an aftermarket cooler.

hehe, i'm sure he will appreciate the offer. But lets keep sales to the for sale section and PM's ;)

thanks for finding that one for me one more question what motherboard should i get with this cpu? i would like the least expensive one that is good

AMD64
don't just post what not to get with out saying why you should not.
baseballplayer217 never said what plans he had for this system.

he did, he told you to get a atx board.

true but your suggestion of an micro atx was as equally preemptive of the information and amd's

If you were going to upgrade, i would defo reccomend LGA775. The older 478 boards dont support DDR2, SATAII ect. Im going for a future proof build, so splashing out the extra pennies on the motherboard now, saves doing all that upgrading in the future!

what kind of video card do you have, agp or pci-e. and what kind of ram are you planning on using. and hdd too, SATA or ATA. all this will have to be considered to know what mobo you want.. o yea and odvously it has to be socket LGA775 to match your processor.
