Intel Pentium 4 Processor Extreme Edition

for single core that amd is the fastest. but for dualcore the fx60 is the fastest one out there. and i dont think the intel would be faster.
the fx-57 is the fastest single core amd in the fx line up

and as for the question of which will perform better, well that really depends on what your using it for

I fairly certain that the FX57 will win for video games and encoding. I had a Venice core overclocked to 2.75 Ghz and it matched or beat the P4 extreme. This is what I'm using now.

The AMD X2 4800+ outperforms that P4EE.

As for those two CPU's, the P4EE would be better, but the only reason the FX is expensive is because it has unlocked multipliers, other then that its the same thing as an Athlon 64.

If you wanna go dual core, go AMD. Since your willing to spend that amount of money i would go with an AMD X2 4800+ and that should cover all the bases.

Or since your are spending a lot you could wait to see how AM2 and Conroe will be, which i recommend.

yea, that extreme edition P4 is a waste of you're money if you're gaming. for a server it'd be nice but id rather get an athlon 64 X2... or the FX-60
