Intel Pentium?

Hello everyone, as some of you might know, im buying a new GPU.. since my X1550 is breaking down...

im thinking about buying an Club 3D GT 440 GPU...
it seems like it needs an Intel Pentium 4 PCU.. my computer is having a Intel Pentium D...
so, my question is, will this GPU work? // is Pentium D bader than Pentium 4? just so i know...

if i will buy Club 3D GT 440 or Club 3D HD 5570...

The Pentium 4 is more obsolete than the Pentium D. The Pentium D is a Dual-Core processor. Pentium 4 processors are single-core. What is your budget for an upgrade? What are the most demanding programs you run on your system?

im not going to upgrade that much...
just 2gb RAM (512mb --> 2gb)
and a new GPU...
the GT440 needs a Intel Pentium 4 Processor..
and HD 5570 doesn't say anything....

right now TrackMania 2 Canyon.... but i will play better games (like GRID, GTA IV, Prototype) when i got my GPU upgraded

You may also need to upgrade your power supply. What power supply model do you have currently?

This is a decent video card. I'm sure others on the forum will recommend better video cards.

MSI R6570-MD1GD3/LP Radeon HD 6570 1 gigabyte DDR3 128-bit Video Card

Edit: I doubt you will be able to play some games in that list with a Pentium D. The processor is just too obsolete.

i will have an 530W PSU....
but could you answer my question??
will the GT440 that needs an Intel Pentium 4 work with an computer that has an Intel Pentium D Processor

Either video card should work with your system. The problem is your Processor is not going to be able to handle the software you want to run very well because it has so much less processing power than a modern processor.

okay, another one...
could an Asus NVidia ENGT430
go into my DELL OPTIPLEX GX620 (pimped with an 530W PSU and 2GB RAM)

or, from ATi's side:
ASUS HD5670
would this go into my DELL OPTIPLEX GX620 (pimped with an 530W PSU and 2GB RAM)
pls answer!

Why not save your money for a better system. Regardless of what GPU you put in that system, its not going to take away from the fact that your processor is slow. Your going to be bottlenecked.

The CPU does not decide what GPU you can use and what you can't use. You could use 2 580s with a pentium 4 if you wanted. (And have a MoBo with 2 16x slots.)

But the CPU you have now is very weak. To get good performance, I would recommend getting a new CPU, GPU, and more RAM. That's what I recommend apart from building a completely new computer, but that may not be an option to you.

This. There is no sense dropping anymore money into outdated, slow hardware when you could build a decent system for not too much.
