I just bought a new prescott processor which is a 478 socket and 3,0GHZ, it costs the same as the intel 530 (775 socket). The thing i was wondering is that on my processor it says 3,0E Ghz wut does the E stand for? is ít worse than the intel 530? cause the FSB is da same(800) and the l2 cache too(1mb).........
thx

there A , B , C , E , on the end of the clock speed

A is a 400MHZ bus Northwood
B is a 533MHZ bus Northwood
C is a 800MHZ bus Northwood
E is a 800MHz Prescott

wut does the E stand for?
It doesnt "stand for" anything. It's just a designation for processors that have the Prescott core (as opposed to C, "Northwood")

is ít worse than the intel 530?
Its not comparable (since you are comparing between S478 and S775) but at the same time it is comparable :P oh the ironies of computers). Generally speaking the 530 is a better chip but thats just because S775 is a better interface for Prescotts

I like the C Northwoods :) Don't get too hot and they overclock nice...i think they were the most popular, but everyone likes hot prescotts now.

well since the S478 is on its way out and prescott is the only choice left there's a good reason everyone wants a prescott
