INTEL Q9300 best buy ever

i just put together my latest home build. I was debating for a while on which CPU i should use and eventually went with the 9300 because i think it has the best balance of speed and price. I just wanted to to see if anyone has this proc and if they are OC'in what kind of numbers they are getting (just want to do a little research on this particular chip before i start playing with it) i've read many reviews that said 3.0 GHz which is a pretty good jump, and i've read a few that say 4.0 GHz which would be pretty sweet...and to all that would try to be a doosh, obviously i know that just about every proc's OC speed will be unique i'm just trying to get a census of average OC speeds...Thank you

Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard

Getting excited now, gonna be another couple weeks. I had the same conclusion as you, great performance for the price. I read in another forum that a 9300 was liquid cooled and the guy had it running stable at 3.2 GHz. Don't know if he is full of crap or not. I might OC mine a little, not much. If you find any info let me know. :D
 
^^ That board doesn't like quads. Some can't even get 3.0GHz with a Q6600 on it and the Q6600 is known to do upwards of 4.0GHz. The board caps out around 350FSB on a quad which with that processor will only give you a clock of 2.625GHz

A little extreme but correct. That's far from a review. They tested the CPU with temps far below 0c and a huge fan on the northbridge and only managed 3.870GHz with a top of the line board. I can boot my Q6600 @ 3.8GHz with less than 1.4v or all that crap they used.
 
you do know that a 32 bit OS won't use all that 4GB of ram. If I remember correctly, they can recognize about 3.5 GB of RAM.
