Hello, i was just wondering what was a normal/average temperature for a intel quad core i5 760, when i play a game called Lineage 2 for like 30min to 3h i had core temp at 50*c at some points when i checked and after that they were on a pretty stable 45 ish. I was just wondering what is concidered too hot. :)

Thx for ur help. :D

[edit]: Oh yeah, and at idle my third core lays at around 31*c and all the other cores lay at 27-28*c.

not overcloked (maybe factory but i dont know) and as far as i know its the standard cooler that came with it /factory cooler.

Those are some great temps you got there. Under full load, my Core 2 Quad gets up into the 70s Celsius in its cramped little heat cabinet. :)

Lol actually now that i removed a part of my table from over my cabinet it is kinda cold when i touch it :P But ye i guess lineage 2 isn't exatcly a state of the art game. Im gonna borrow gta IV or some other new game from my friend and see how my pc will handle it :D

You can try running Prime95 of IntelBurnTest. Just google 'em. Prime95 is a nice program for stressing the CPU, but supposedly IntelBurnTest is too.;)

lol i tried prime95 and in 2 min i was in the 70s going up slowly, i stopped it there. Then after a few min the pc was idle at 28-35*c again. Is it possible that this program could frie my cores and like break it? :F Because i read somewhere (i think in CoreTemp program) it said Tj.max 99*c.

[edit]: Ok so now ive run prime95 at small fft (the first one) for 10 min and my core temps got up to 70-71*c the first and fourth were doing 69-70 while the second and third were doing 70-71. Is this good for a cpu without a purchased cooler?

That's fine. With a stock cooler, that's pretty nice.

dont worry about your temps unless it gets to 90oC (will handle 100)...

run prime95 for 20mins and then u will find the max temp your cpu will go to on stock cooler.

Gonna try buying a cooler some time later in a few months, but i dont know if i can install it :O
I might try building one in a month or so. I'm currently using a cooler from a Dell Optiplex GX280 that I have to tape down for my Celeron OC rig. :D Surprisingly enough, my temps stay around the mid 60s Celsius @ 1.5v (stock is 1.4v).
