Intel Quad core vs Extreme...

I want to buy an Intel processor. Please suggest which one should i get,a Core 2 Extreme QX9775 3.2 GHz or a Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.8 GHz processor? Which will be faster? and what's the basic difference between a Quad core and Core 2 extreme cpu? Pls rep asap..
BTW- I mainly play heavy graphics games.
 
the Core 2 Extreme QX9775 3.2 GHz shits all over the Q9550 2.8 GHz but is not worth it.
get the Q9550. try an get the Q6600 if u can.
but if money is not a option get the QX9750.
 
Well the QX9775 is a SKT 771 processor, designed for skulltrail i think. The only difference between the QX9775 and the Q9550 is the FSB, clock speed and an unlocked multiplier.

IMO, the QX9775 is not worth the price at all, the Q9550 will overclock much further than the stock 3.2 of the QX9775 and is much much cheaper.

For an extreme chip, you are baiscally paying more for an unlocked multiplier, and it isnt worth the extra money
