Intel SLI Motherboard

Does anyone know of any 650i or 680i motherboard that will run two PCI-E video card at full speed of x16 in SLI mode? I've been searching for a good motherboard that would have the ability to run dual video card for x16, but have not found one for the intel socket LGA 775. The motherboards I've found only run dual video card at only x8 each PCI-E slot. I want a motherboard that will run x16 on both video card. I found the MSI diamond, and the ASUS striker extreme, but I am not sure if these will run dual video cards at x16. Can you guys point out some motherboards that will run at x16 PCI-E with dual video card in SLI mode?

Thanks!

Those arent Intel boards, those are nVidia boards. I know the 680i runs both PCI-E slots at x16, and the third one is either x8 or x4. But I believe the 650 runs at x16 and the other runs at x8.

When I mentioned Intel board, I was actually talking about the socket LGA 775 of the motherboard. Thats how the call it in retail anyways. So all the 680i intel boards should be dual x16 in SLI? Just to make sure because I would not want a motherboard that only runs dual x8 in SLI. :P

Hey omega, does your Asus P5K motherboard run at dual video card at x16 PCI-E speed in SLI?

The P5K is an Intel chipset board, more specifically it's the P35. This chipset supports Crossfire with one slot at the full x16 and the other slot at x8. Although in reality you're unlikely to notice the difference between and x8 and an x16 slot.

anything with the 680i chipset will run SLI with 16x for both. most 650i motherboards will run 8x for both. i have no heard of any nvidia chipsets running one video card at a different speed than the other

Thank you guys for all your helpful inputs. Yeah, I have been looking at the 680i and they all look like very good. In my opinion of a good motherboards is a board that can have dual x16 SLI, good audio, wide range of RAM capacity, and high-end CPU compatiblity. Who else wants more than all these features?

I think whoever is doing dual x16 SLI graphics card without the dual x16 SLI motherboards are really not using their graphics card to the full potential. An SLI board that has PCI-E slot 1 at x16 speed while the PCI-E slot 2 is at x8 is not really maxing the graphics card to the max. I suppose if you choose to do SLI, you would want to max out both your cards so the outcome will be at its best. I read somewhere that there is a 10% increase in efficiency if dual x16 graphics card is used, compared to the PCI-E slot 1 at x16 and PCI-E slot 2 at x8. Not much a big difference, but the efficiency matters a lot.

Anyhow, I guess im getting a 680i board, because its better in Dual SLI mode than the rest. Its the TRUE Dual SLI motherboards. All I got to say is, if both your graphics card is not running at full speed, your really not doing SLI. :P
