Intel x25-m G3 / 120GB Postville G2 Question

So I couldn't help but get disappointed when I heard Intel delayed these drives but I was reading here http://www.anandtech.com/show/3965/intels-3rd-generation-x25m-ssd-specs-revealed and I have to say sorta disappointed. The reason being it is comparable to the current Sandforce 1200 controllers.

So my question is what would make Intel "superior" in the market to choose say a G2 drive instead of a 120GB Vertex 2? Can even compare the Vertex 2 to the G3 paper specs what makes it superior and worth while to buy? The only thing I can guess is the supposed "superior life" but most I can read about that its just typical fanboy talk with no hard facts.

Just trying to understand the situation on these drives. Appreciate any info.

you do realise most of the figures you get as a consumer is like propaganda, they always try to drive you to there product

random read/writes is basicly what your ssd usses the most

i am not in any way saying g3 is going to beat the sandforce 2000 i just think you need too look closer... past the marketing crap

i am all up for what ever brand offers the product that the buyer desires, but i am against all that trys to be what its not
 
Wow this is a bit of a old bump :P

Also the SF-2000 is what the controller CAN do without flash added. It wont be that fast off the block I would wager more like 350mb tops on first gen. Also the more I read on the Sandforce controllers the more worthless they look to me. They show 285mb/275mb read/write but in the real world you can get 200mb if your lucky and if we went spec for spec the Sandforce 1200/1500 is superior to Intel's x25-m controller. Yet in every benchmark they are neck and neck except in write speeds.
Personally the more I read the more respect I have towards Intel on SSDs. They advertise a speed and they meet that speed which is truth in advertising which I like. You get exactly what you buy and nothing less. My friends both bought the 160GB x25-m and in real-world playing they got 240mb read and 66mb write with a 80% full drive. Sustained writes mind you not some benchmark results.


However I am no fan boy and I will wait to see what the SF-2000 does and see what Intel comes out with and buy the best of the two but so far Intel has impressed me. Even though they charge a premium price :P
