Interesting Problem with my display.... :S

(Didn't know where to put it)

As you can see from the attachment, my screen really kinda screws up.

It's either this, or more blocky, or blue... :S

The fact that it shows in a screen shot shows it can't be my monitor, which is pretty decent.

I thought maybe it's heat, so I left it for a bit coz I was getting new fans anyway. (I now have 8, including an exhaust, cooldrive 6, one on front one other on back and a cheaper hard drive cooler for second hard drive, and power supply :P). To be honest I could keep milk fresh in it so it's not heat. At least not heat now.

I thought maybe its because my Windows is completely screwed up (which it is), but it does it when I'm in the BIOS settings too, which is below windows. (it only does it on the coloured sections, not on the black and white).

So the only other thing I can think of is that the heat in there before (lots) has done permenant damage (annoying because another decent one would cost).

Has anyone seen this before or suggest things to try to sort it?

Is this an old monitor? Have you had it on the same picture for a long time? (years+) My dad's 96 POS has a permanent image burned into the monitor, it looks exactly like your screenshot, but it never changes colors. ???

No it's 1-2 years but not old, good quality (free from a compo :P) monitor.

Sorry I should have mentioned the boxes constantly move and flicker. It doesn't even happen all the time. Sometimes like a thick black line on the left of the mouse appears and follows it around.

If it was monitor though, surely wouldn't show on a screen shot

The only thing that I can think of is display....what else could it be? Do you have another card to try or IGP?

Is this the kind of thing a damaged graphics card can do?

I don't know whether it made a difference but i took a screen shot while the monitor was switched off, and it was still there.

Oh yeah, it also does it while playing World of Warcraft, in which case the actual graphics really do mess up, as you can see from the triangular streaks and blocks and things, which flicker just as much as the yellow.

sigh, it cant be the monitor, its most likely the operating sysem or someting, because it shows up in the screenshot, it cant be the moniter and i dont think it can be the videocard..... try reinstalling windows...

I've never heard of windows causing something like that...
But then I've never heard of anything causing that.

There is no way whatsoever that is could ever possibly be the monitor so il put my money on the video card (to be more specific the video card ram) because I assume that is what corruption in the video ram would do.

If you could try another video card and see if it works that could narrow down the problem but i doubt you have spare video cards lying around...

If we never figure this out a new computer would be best:rolleyes:

And why would you put money on gfx RAM??? I would much rather have a 256bit 128MB card than a 128bit 256MB card.....I would even rather have a 1024bit 64MB card:D
