interesting problem

ok fellas.
I have a Dell Optiplex 755 OEM. It's got a C2D E7200.
The problem is this: it won't start up.
I reset the CMOS. There are no beep codes. The monitor doesn't display anything, onboard or card. The PSU didn't go bang or anything, and all the fans spin up.
The power button light is usually green, but is now orange - meaning something is wrong.
Does the same with or without a hard drive.

Thoughts?

try reseating RAM. If that fails I would try reseating the CPU. If that fails, then you are experiencing board failure.

Reseated RAM and CPU. So you think it's board failure. Do you think a good bake would fix it? I can't see any blown caps.

Most likely the board is dead or possibly shorting. Try taking the board out of the case and see if it starts then.

no dice on starting it out of the case.
I'm going to make me some nice cooked motherboard.
The heatsinks are removed, and we're going to pre-heat to 200 degrees Celcius, or 385F.
Should I take off the plastic parts, or just leave them?

triple posts are what we like.

Baked the motherboard for 10 minutes on 200 degrees.

Turned it on, and got a flashing orange light instead of a solid light.

Turned it off and changed some stuff.

Turned it on again and it turned into a smoke machine.

I think it's dead.

Eh I didn't think baking motherboards really worked, usually people bake their dead or dying graphics cards because of the soldering.

Usually a solid orange light with no beeping is a bad PSU with a Dell machine. You probably could have saved it with a new PSU, but now it seems it's completely dead.
