Interesting Wi Fi Scenario

Ok, so i have an interesting problem maybe someone could help me with.. alright so i have a job sitting at a counter and i get very bored so i have my laptop with me, problem is that my router's wireless signal is coming from my house which is too low signal to have any decent connection with. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on this? So far i have found some solutions but i dont know much about some of them.

-I found a patch of metallized fabric called wi-fi x-tender
http://wifi-x-tender.com/index.htmlit looks very legit, i have been reading up on it and heard many good things, people were saying that the same thing could be done with metallized tape but i think it must be kind of different

-I heard about external antennas but i have no idea about these at all

-I tried placing an unplugged router with antennas near my laptop, and i seem to have better internet but its still not that great, is this just getting lucky or does the router have anything to do with it?

-Does weather affect signal and if so , how?

Please leave me some answers :P thanks

PS
Also if anyone has any ideas you can send me a private message too :)

Stealing someone else's internet is illegal, even if they don't know how to secure it. You will not get any help from us.

Excuse me but before you bite my head off , its not stealing because my house is near by and i am trying to connect to my OWN internet thank you very much. when i said open i meant open as in i conncet to it because i kno my OWN password.

You didn't say anything about it being your internet, you said all the open signals near you.

I did like 3 times. Still doesn't say that its your internet. However, how far away are you from the router? Have you tried updating your wireless drivers? Have you installed the correct chipset drivers for the laptop?

Do you have a router with external antennae's? What router do you have? You never did say how far away from the router you are.
