Interface customization

Hello.
I'm bored of Windows XP. Are there any programs that will let me edit a lot of the interface (looks that is) without slowing my machine down to some PIII speed? ;)
Plusses for user friendliness and freeware. ;)

You people have helped me before with stuff, please do it again. :)

depends on how you want to customize ur interface.. into a look of another.. like.. mac, vista, linux.. etc.. if so.. u can get flyakiteosx for a mac look.. shell packs for vista, longhorn(also vista), and another one at crystalxp. or if u want to do it your own.. go to wincustomize and they have useful tools for you if you would want to customize yourself, and they also have user created ones pertaining to your particular needs.

I don't want themes. ;)

What I want is to be able to customize pretty much everything visible, or at least as much as possible. Colors, looks, button design, or even having transparant windows or textures where I can have only one color. Demanding a lot of course. ;)
I'll check wincustomize later tonight, maybe there's what I look for there.

Small bump-update: Found Litestep while looking. Anyone tried it and can tell me how user-friendly, bugged or generally good/bad it is?

From the looks of it, Litestep looks totally like what I've been looking for, but I'd rather not install some major program that would make me completely ignorant on how to use my computer. ;)

litestep can be resource consuming since its a program being run.. i'd prefer something that would replace all system files so everytime i boot it.. a program doesn't have to be run and in so, slow down my pc.. this way, everything is always there and it starts rright up.. if you have a good pc with resonable ram and good cpu.. u should be ok..
