Internal CD-RW drive trouble.

I have an ASUS CRW-4832AX internal drive in my computer. Whenever I go to use it, as soon as I touch the tray to put a disk on it, it retracts back into the computer, also, when I went to eject a disk from it just a little while ago, it would eject and then immediately retract without letting me get the disk out. What could be causing this problem?

That sounds like a very old drive. The electronics in the drives tend to do funky things after a few years. Like not allowing the drive to open when pressing the button or what its doing to you now, I had the same thing many years ago. Replace the drive.

i agree w/ johnb, fortuneately now is the time to get a newer burner. I saw IDE burners at newegg.com for $27.00
SATA slightly more

Thanks for the input. I have an internal DVD-rom in the computer as well. Also an external Sony dvd-burner. I try not to use the cd-rw drive at all, only when I rip a cd to the computer that the dvd rom drive takes too long to try to read it.
