Crazy question but I am building a computer for someone and this dude has like 8 usb cords hooked up to his old computer that he has all these extensions to expanders outside of the computer where they all can fit...

Was wondering if you know of any internal usb ports I can install in the back so they all will be convienantly located in one place, like 8 usb port internal??? I know the one I am building already has 2 but this dude needs like 6 more... Any suggestions?

On most newer boards where you generally plug in the front or top harness for power, reset, power and hard drrive activity leds you will find a second identical block of pins for additional usb ports generally used for front or the top of a case. The problem often seen when adding too many ports was devices suddenly failing to be recognised not seen with the rear ports but front or top.

When adding too many the entire bus may be pulled down being low current there. But there are pci type expansion cards for adding additional ports as well as using 4port usb hubs that simply pliug into one port already available. A good article with photos on how things work on adding usb ports shows the various options available at http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question361.htm

tbh with ya.

i have personally only seen a card with 6 on there.. i have never seen any more. alternitively I have a external hub which holds a further 7 whichs works fine.

Generally if you load too much up on one port you lose too much bandwidth anyways from pulling the bus down there. When case first started seeing front usb ports people noticed problems with the additional ones when used while the rear onboard ports were always reliable.

Newer boards since the early P4 and Socket A models accomidate the cases by seeing the extra block of pins for using more ports. With most cases and even the base for the lcd here you never see more then two or three ports running the harness down to the board from the front or top of a case or having a cord from the base of the lcd here going to a rear port. The base sees 3 ports there.
