internet connection not as fast as I thought

I just got comcast 15mbs internet connection speed, throw it into my wireless computer and then found out I am getting only 300kb - 500kbs??? Results from bandwidth testing sites.

how we setup the router:
comcast cable router, plugged into a wireless router, that connects to 2 wireless computers.

wireless router:
NetGear Wireless-N
WNR2000
password setup and secure.

other 2 computers have NetGear Wireless-N adapters. No one is downloading anything or uploading.

Any idea? I want my moneys worth, but I don't seem tobe too thrilled about this result. :(

*update*

now its 1mbs...

I'm new to wireless internet, any advice is welcome.

The first thing I would test is the connection speed you get when plugged directly into the comcast router. Meaning remove the wireless network from the mix. Just plug a computer directly into the comcast modem and run some speed tests that way. If you're still getting slow speeds then it's something to do with comcast rather than something to do with your wireless network.

Please go here and run a speedtest using the wireless and post the results.

www.speedtest.net

After the test is done please click on copy forum link and then paste that in a reply back here so we can see the results.

For example, here is my speedtest.

ok as it turns out, I brought a cable to test out the difference by going to www.speedtest.net that you suggested, and its a huge difference. I guess I'd stick to a massively long cable cord for now. lol

thanks

are you SURE that is your Download speed if it were your upload that would be more understandable

Don't confuse MB/s and Mb/s or KB/s or Kb/s (Bytes and bits). My guess is your download bandwidth is 15 Mb/s which is 1.875MB/s. Plus the throughput is never going to be the max speed. It's also limited by the uploading speed of the host. So the numbers you're looking at seem alright IMHO.
