Internet Connection Speeds

hey, can someone tell me what is the best broadband internet to get in england, i currently have the slowest (200k) NTL broadband and it sucks really. i have 2 and am getting 1 more pc's on a network and 200k isnt really fast enough to provide for these pc's, especially when you like to play online games. or if anyone could tell me if there is actually an internet speed booster out there that actually works (prefurably free).

thanks

No, even if there are Internet Speed Boosters that work it will only increase it by about 5% which is pointless, you could buy 1MB broadband from BT, or Tiscali they are both cheap. There is a provider that gives you 3MB broaband from about £19.99 but I can't remember the name.

bulldog is really good from what i have heard...god damn my line it seems it can only take 1mb/s.

according to pipex BT are to complete their upgrade by end of august 2005 so till then you will never know when they will upgrade you. but also there is a quick way but that will cost you if you pay £14.99 they will upgrade your service within 7 days.

200k? ntl's lowest speed was 300k but thats been upgraded to 1MB, dont get it, its capped at 3GB a month. if i hadnt just started a cointract with NTL for the 1.5/3MB broadband, then i would of gone with bulldog, its run by cable and wireless, who also do NTL

Good, all the packages are uncapped, jsut make sure your line can handle it before you buy it :D (although it should make you test it before hand)

NTL's new 1mb brodabnd (£17.99) only has 3gb usage per month, where as there 200-300K broadband (also £17.99 a month) has unlimited usage.

Yes, both are crap, I still suggest you use the Bulldog Broadband as I believe this will suit your needs a lot better (There main aim is to provide Online Gamers the best speed and uncapped service :D which I think they do very well :D)

it isnt uncapped, it is techincally capped, but its a soft cap, so they only talk to you about if if you go loads over the limit constantly. and everything above the 1MB NTL ie 2/3MB has a 1GB a day, and i think its a soft cap to. the 1MB is hard if i remember correctly, but none of the caps are being enforced for a few months yet until they get everyone upgraded
