internet crashing.

i recently bought a laptop, but ever since my internet has been crashing everytime i:
upload files,
download with torrent program (works fine from filefront etc)
send files over msn.

when internet crashed and i open network connections , it still says lan is connected, but when i press repair, it says unable to renew IP Address
 
if i deactivate lan connection and activate it again, it cant connect, cant get ip address
same if i take cable out and put it back in
