Internet Crawling Issue

Hi guys,

I've had a very frustrating last few days and would really appreciate any insight you might have.

It all started a few days ago when I got back from vacation for a week. I booted up my computer and everything was normal except for my incredibly slow internet connection. I initially assumed it was my router that was causing the issue, so I restarted it but ran into the same crawling speeds. Once I discovered that all of the other computers in my house had a fast connection, I knew it was not an issue with my ISP or my router. Just for your information, I have three wireless and one other ethernet connection that have no issues. I made sure that my ethernet cable was not the issue by disabling my wireless on my laptop and plugging in the same ethernet cable to discover my laptop ran fast with the ethernet. I then assumed it was a virus/spyware, so I ran and installed a variety of anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that did not find any issues within my PC. Assuming I had a virus that could not be cured, I decided to reformat my computer. To my amazment, reformatting did not solve the issue! I still suffer from an extremely slow connection of about 1kb/second.

Just so you are aware, I do not have a wireless network card on the computer which I have the issue, so I could not attempt a wireless connection. I have a Dell XPS 420 which I bought last year. This has been the first issue I have ever had with it.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I am extremely frustrated and am all out of ideas.

Thanks guys.

If updating the drivers doesn't help, then buy a separate pci network card, you should be back to normal then.

I bought a new network card today and installed it. Everything is back to normal.

Thanks for all the help. Much appreciated.:)

I'm glad to see that you got it working and told us though. Most people don't come back and say they got it working.
