Internet disconnects when I close laptop and...

When I close my laptop, it disconnects from the internet and won't re-connect until the modem for our wireless network is re-booted.

If I disconnect from the network and then close my lid and reconnect when I open my lid, it works ok-

I have already gone into the power options and the set the WiFi adapter to never sleep, and for the laptop to do nothing when I close the lid.

This wasn't happening before- it started about a week ago and mine seems to be the only computer doing it (however the other laptop in the house isn't used as often.)

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I'd like to add that when this happens, if I check the status of my computer FROM my computer, it says I am connected to the network locally, but just not to the internet. When I check the status of my computer from ANOTHER computer on the network, it says I'm not there at all. I've only checked from another computer once.

Try reinstalling the drivers for your wireless card. If you don't know where to find them, go to the manufacturer of the computer's website and in their search bar type in drivers and you should be able to handle it from there.

wireless card wont connect to web after restarting laptop.

I have a similar problem.

Last week I installed a new Belkin Wireless Card into my Gateways solo laptop ( Windows 2000)and it will connect with the internet only when I reset the BT Hub to its default settings which is channel 1.

However, when I shut down the laptop and restart it, it will not reconnect to the internet so cant get online.

I have since discovered that the wireless card will connect with any other hub ( I tested it on 3 seperate ones today) after it has been restarted. Any hub in the world except mine. Whats going on?

There must be a setting on my hub which I need to adjust. The problem lies with my card/laptop and the hub.
