Internet Explorer 5 second freeze

I've recently been finding (although I don't know what triggered it) that whenever a new IE window is opened, whether from clicking a link or manually opening a new window, the whole program freezes for about 5 seconds, then kicks back into action. Normal browsing is fine, it's just when a new window is opened.

I was on IE6, I downloaded and installed IE7 Beta 3 just in case it was a problem with that, but I'm noticing the same problem, even with the tab browsing.

Has anyone come across this? I am guessing it may be to do with my broadband connection, since it doesn't seem to be browser-specific, I'm using a wireless broadband router, which has been working flawlessly a while before this problem appeared.

Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry guys, never mind, fixed it. Turns out it was a faulty entry for an extra IE toolbar button that was added a while ago.

So you are another one that had some fun with the IE 7.0 beta. I'll run strictly Mozilla'a FireFox before running that on an XP machine again. It kind of reminds you of the old ME(MS flop) days there. A good fresh reinstall of IE 6.0 always seems to solve those problems. :P

The problem was with IE6, but continued with IE7, proving that at least my personalisations were consistent. I'm back to IE6 now though for the time being.

Anyway, yes I'm more clued up than most about the rival browsers, It's never something that's really ever bothered me.

The real problem you saw there was that the IE 7 beta didn't correct the problem when putting in on. At least you got it back to IE 6 without hassles. That's good news there. Someone recently asked about getting the beta version off without reinstalling XP. With Windows going on a new drive here having already wiped the old drive IE 6.0 finally saw it's way nack on.

I have FireFox onhand while hardly using it in Windows mainly as a backup browser for problems like this where IE gets stuck somehow. I was even able to get Thunderbird to recognise the current Outlook configuration. The beta version do grab your current favorites, links, etc. right away as well as the other settings apparently including any glitches as well.
