Internet Network possible

Is it possible to have a (fake) LAN over the internet with somebody else?
Because it is possible to have acces to another computer, just like a network.
A very simple example of this is Netsend, you can take over another person's desktop with that, so i guess a fake LAN would be possible too.

I want to play games like red alert and such by lan so that's why I'd like to know
 
hmmm wel i used a prog, and i think it was called netsend trough msn.
and it was possible to take over another person's dekstop, but not to get a network, it was meant to talk really.

but i already found a program that works.
don't think it's a good lan, but it works with games!, pretty well to, i can select "lan" as source, and it works, ping was around 20, so that's good enough. and so far it proofed pretty stable, i can even browse all his shared files, without crashing.
