Internet Optimizer question

I'm wondering what problems would arise from telling an internet optimizing program a higher connection rate than you actually have.

Ex. I'm using auslogics internet optimizer and its asking me what my connection speed is, which is usually between 6.5 and 7mbps and there are two settings within that range, 6mbps and then it jumps to 16mbps. Would setting it to 16 screw me up in any way or should I stick with 6?

I DO NOT recommend internet optimizers. They change/mess with the registry and settings and sometimes you end with worse performance than what u started with.

It is impossible to get higher speeds than what your ISP or Cable connection allows
