Internet Providers?????

I am new to this site so don't get mad if people have already posted alot about this topic....

What is the best internet provider out there...i wanna know threw experience on whats better....cable or dsl? and who? i heard dsl is fast at some moments...and cable is always congested....i have comcast but sick of the huge bill at the end of the month with not too good of service....

well i think cable is a little better, but i think it isn't that much better than DSL to justify how much more expencive it it...
we have SBC Yahoo! DSL...
afterthought: SBC Google DSL... plz
 
I have Comcast as well, and if you would have asked me this question a year ago, I would have said the same thing, but it is working great and fine for about the last 8 months or so... DSL isn't that much of a sacrifice for performance and all that, so you might want to look around at what's available. And have you talked with Comcast about what is going on in your area? They were doing some upgrading/maintanence stuff a year ago, and that's what was causing the problem. VERY annoying at the time, but hasn't been a problem at all recently!
 
Think about future upgrades, every time sbc replaces a line they are going fiber optic. I am in a little town and we are all fiber optics right now. I have 10mb download and 1mb upload for 29.95 a month and for 59.95 a month I can get 30mb down and 5mb up, after sbc has all fiber lines up they are going to start running fiber optic right up to the house with claimed speeds of over 100mb down, this is all going to happen within the next 5 years so I was told by the sbc technician that came to my house. With fiber optics we will be able to have video phones and recieve TV broadcast through the phonelines as well...its funny though because I live in a small town and they upgraded me but my mom lives in a major city about 20miles away and the fastest speed she can get is 3mb down go figure, I thought they would upgrade major cities first.
 
I have dsl and it works wonderfully even being netwroked on three computers and two xbox lives at once. I have heard good about cable too, cept my friends hiccups alot because so many people around him have it as well.
 
I have 18mbps internet from my dads company and it works great. I can't say I have any experience of ISPs but I have heard that wanadoo are the best.
