I want to know how the internet lines work. I have AT&T internet, no phone or anything just internet.
It's been out since Thursday but my neighbor that has AT&T also, hers works.
How is it hers works and mine doesn't?

AT&T has to come out 2 or 3 times a year to fix my connection while my neighbor never had a problem with hers. And normally takes a few days for them to get out there to fix it.

I'm getting a little teed off with them, my son is in high school and uses internet for homework and he has to go to the neighbors to use hers.

Another question, we got a notice from AT&T saying something about we went over gig limit and will be charged $10 extra. My son plays COD and we watch Netflix a pretty good bit, I'm assuming these are the culprits.
How much data do those use?

So basically what you are using is a dry loop dsl. There is a 150gb limit for dsl if you had uverse it would be 250gb.

Sounds like you have a line issue somewhere. Tell them to figure it out or you'll be dropping their service for something else. If you have comcast available in your area then they have a 250gb limit but currently is suspended.
 
I'd also investigate other ISPs if this is an ongoing problem. Keep in mind that the issue can be anywhere along the connection from the local exchange to your house and also your house's internal wiring, filters, wall jack, even the phone cable you use for the modem or the modem itself.

Netflix is likely your primary culprit as far as data consumption. Online gaming actually doesn't use that much bandwidth.
