The computer that is having trouble is connected wirelessly using a Linksys adapter. The computer connected to the router is working fine.

When it first quit working, I tried to repair Windows but had to upgrade since there was no repair option. I had trouble with that too but I got that fixed but I can still not connect to the internet. Sometimes it would try to acquire the address. When I had trouble upgrading I had to go into safe mode and the internet worked there but was real slow. Since it worked, I assume that the adapter is not bad. Is there something I can do to figure out what is wrong?
 
Well I had the internet working. I just did a Windows repair. That fixed it. But now it's not working again. When it was working, AVG Internet Security was not activated so AVG wasn't working. After I activated AVG, I got a firewall confirmation saying something about Generic Host Process for System32 and it asked me to allow or deny it. I denied it because I was not sure what it is and soon as I did that the internet quit working. In the filename, it had svchost.exe. Under processes there are 8 svchosts listed.

The Generic Host Process pops up couple more times after the first time and also there are firewall confirmation that says LSA Shell Version and Windows Explorer. I always deny them because I have never got them before. Could someone help me out? This is really frustrating.
 
make sure you have the latest service pack for windows, drivers for your wireless card, firmware for your router and that MAC blocking is off.
 
After I did the repair, internet was working but my AVG Internet Security was not activated. So I entered the number for it again and got AVG working. For some reason the AVG firewall stops working. So I active it and soon as I do I get a several messages that say Generic Host Process for Win32 services, LSA Shell Export Version and Windows Explorer is try to establish connection asking me to allow or deny. Generic Host Process message will come back couple more times. The internet will not work unless I allow all of them. If I deny them the internet will not work.
