internet really slow on desktop

hey guys. just built my new computer and i am getting really slow internet.

while on my laptop its blazing fast.

i am using wireless internet on my desktop since i am too lazy to run an ethernet cable to the next room.

my question is why would my laptop have faster loading time, and dl speeds than my desktop. both have wireless n cards in. but my wireless router is only a G.

How far away are you from the router when using the desktop compared to the laptop? Whats the signal strength?

well i am just a room away. and i was using my laptop and desktop prectically in the same place.

but i believe i have figured out the problem. bandwidth.

just got home and tried it. didnt turn on my laptop but started using my desktop and my internet is acting as it should.

so now i hve another question

how can i increase bandwidth wirelessly?(yeah the question sounds dumb).

cuz if somebody has to use my laptop i would hate to not be able to use my desktop to surf the net when somebody is useing my laptop for the same thing.
