Internet Routing from East coast US to Europe all the way to West coast US.

Hey everyone. I am really curious of why my internet is routing the way that it is. It seems strange that when I do a traceroute I get a result that goes from the east Coast (New York) all the way to Europe and then all the back to the google servers on the west coast. Anyone know why?

The reason that I ask is that I recently purchased Halo 5 and the lag is unbearable. I have been looking at many forums for an answer and I have yet to get one. It seems to be a problem with TWC (Time Warner Cable) customers. I'm not sure if this is a cheap solution by TWC, backbone, or whoever is in change of that.

My internet speed is: 15mbps, speedtests say around that.
Ping is a no higher than 75ms and as low as 9ms.

Here is an example of my traceroute:

Do a traceroute from command prompt instead. It looks like the test you're doing is a proxy traceroute so you're getting inaccurate results for anything else but that test to the proxy and back out.
