Internet safe to shop with cards???

No, you should just give me your credit card info and I'll order for you to be safe. :D

Yes, it's safe for the most part. Look for a lock on the status bar of your browser to make sure the site is secure. If in doubt, google the company, generally speaking if it's not safe to order something from you should get plenty of feedback.

Newegg and Tigerdirect are very reputable and you should have zero problems ordering from them.

Should I have a good virus/spyware protection before? Mine is currently expired, but I got kaspersky 2010 ordered and should be here tomorrow.

I don't think it really has anything to do with PC security when you're sending information over the interwebs ;)
Just be careful with what you buy and from where. My parents use PayPal when ordering off the internet. The idea is simple, but it works. As uk said above, Newegg and TD are very reputable companies.

It definitely can't hurt. Although it doesn't directly affect the security between you and the site, it's a good way to make sure you don't have any keyloggers on your system.

Look for verisign or other security certficates.... If its certified then its safe..

Nothing is safe online...ever,What id recommend doing as i do it myself....get your bank to set up another account for you and use that strictly for internet purchases only....and only put in the cash you require to buy that you want,Therefore if anyone does manage to get hold of your card details they wont realy get too far with only limited funds in there.

Just safer that using your major cards that have your savings on ets which alot of people do and can be costly if the details gets into the wrong hands...My friend had had it done to him and lost some money.

This.
Don't trust just paypal, especially for small retailers. Paypal will let transactions go through even when they know the site doesn't exist anymore, or the company has gone under, ect. But in general, larger sites are safe and over the last few years banks and credit card companies have gotten much better for things like online fraud and bogus transactions.

It's safe for you to order online.
But! Becareful because if you have any spyware or infections on your computer, i heard that they can still your identity such as Your Name, Credit Cards entered and so on. So... I recommend you install a Norton Product which has Identity safe installed.

- Indentity safe from Norton displays on your Internet Browser as a Toolbar and ensures you are protected and safe when entering credit card information....

Thanks

id say be careful beacuse things such as key loggers will catch all the information you type in, such as credit card number address etc, but for the most part it is relatively safe usually a credit card is safer beacause you have more protection on the money you spend so if it is all stolen it is usually easier to get back, but you may want to check with your bank first if you have this protection
