You can do this one of two ways:
1) If the laptop has USB, just buy this:

2) You can plug the USB cable into the laptop and share the Internet connection. Now I'm not into Mac and really don't know jack crap about that platform. But I use an App called PdaNet and the program runs on my Windows 7 computer laptop. You launch the App, select USB. Plug the USB cable into the computer and fire up the PdaNet program on the computer to create an Internet connection. This is commonly called "tethering your phone" And with this App you don't need to pay your cell phone provider more money for tethering capability.
Doing a little research on iOS tethering, it appears that the Apple store doesn't allow tethering Apps, which is as bad as Google not allowing ADblocker add-ons for Chrome or AD blocker Apps in the Play Store. Now according to
this website, you can use PdaNet in iOS and use USB, but it talks about jail breaking crap. Sorry to say, you shouldn't have wasted your money on expensive Apple crap and bought a Samsung tab instead. LOL But that USB WIFI dongle would be your best bet.
