There really is no way to speed up your internet unless you pay for higher speed from your provider. If you are paying for a certain speed and not getting that, then you can call them and complain.
The only instance when this may not actually be the case is if you're running wireless G and have somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 megabit internet service. Wireless G would have a hard time pushing that kind of throughput at any distance.
