what are the highest speed available to the general public over in america? in the uk opur highest is apparently 24 mbs but i can only get 8mbs

With that 24Mb, you need to live within 1.5km of there xchanges, so i doubt any people will get that. Im happy with my 10Mb from NTL

BTW, In Sweden and Japan, where fibre optic broadband is standard, they have upto 1Gb services.

i heard aswell that in japan there top speed broadband is like only a 10er a month aswell and i pay 15a month for 2 mbs

Well the fastest in America is 37GBps, but thats not something for the general public.

Im only 2MB with BT Yahoo. We are meant to be getting an upgrade to 4MB once they change the phone lines.....
