Internet via satellite

Most people here are either on Dial-Up, DSL, or Cable. I find satellite to be a big rip-off since there slow speeds, the cap your downloads, and you have high latency in games.

My DSL provider is GSInet.

Plus, i hear that if you get a storm where you live, then the internet cuts off.

Cable provider is NTL

Well i have Satellite TV and it only goes out on a very rare ocassion, usually if its a blizzard or severe downpour.

Hello ,

I think the satellite Internet has a better QOS , its better thanks the DSL or the cable , but you must choose the right company.

i have satallite dsl...and im connected at 5500 down..I used to play games 4 hours a day, and i would have a ping of 23-40.and i have never had troubles

my satallite down speed is still faster than the average users speed. Infact the fastest speed in my small town next to mine, is 512kbps. but that is a population of 500

I have SBC yahoo dsl. I have regretted it as soon as we got it. IT conflicts with out linksys wireless router all the time, and some how my sister keeps taking down the internet. My download speeds a whooping 150kp/s. Better then dial up:)

and OC47 can download at 47Gbps = 5.875GBps.

And i guess it depends on your ISP, since with DirecWay they cap your speed and downloads, and the speed and price sucks.

like i said never had problems in five years. 5500kbps down. I would say its pretty good.
What is your ISP?
How much is it?
Is it available in Ohio USA?
I’m asking because where I live I have no hope of getting cable or DSL.

well i live in north dakota...I get this dsl for $15 a month. The dish and modem were nearly free...The reason it is so cheap is because my step dad works for the isp(SRT), the co is 30 miles from my house. We were beta testing the service, and we reached speeds that exceeded 8500kbps. Now we are paying 15 dollars a month for 5.5

That doesnt make any since, the satellite internet connects with satellites in space, so it doesnt matter how close you are to the ISP's HQ.

this is a different kinda service...They send a wireless signal from the co to a tower, then the tower transmits the signal to my wireless dish outside my home. Its not from space..Its from a tower, infact its the same tower as cellular companies use
