have a computer downstairs with a belkin router for my daughter to get internet upstairs on her computer. was round neighbours for a party when the son said that he was picking up our internet..or something like that and we need to encrypt the computer.
does this mean he can tell wot sites are being visited and passwords are being used, and wot needs to be done.
worried he may see her sign in names and passwords has she uses bebo, msn and others

No it means he can connect to your network to have access to internet. No worries about privacy, your internet might run slower if you're all using it at the same time...

Correct me if I am wrong but does this not pose a risk to the computer on wireless network? Though usernames and passwords might not be given out it is possible for files on the host computers to be accessed if the account which is being used to be logged in is not password protected! Not sure but IMHO it is a good idea to have a password protected wireless connection!
