Internet...

Hey, new here :P Simple question really, I’m just abit unclear about it. I have one computer in my house, using NTL cable broadband, and have now got a second computer. Question is, How would I connect the new computer to the same Internet service, so that they could both be connected to the Internet at the same time. I assume its something to do with routers
Cheers, chris.

yes, you would be needing a router. now then, would you like it to be wired or wireless? becuase they have slightly different set-ups...

Ah I was thinking, I'm not sure if the wireless would work because of the distance between the two computers, my main computer, is in one room in my house, and my new computer will be in a recording studio next to my house, basically, through two walls of my house, a small gap (1meter) outside, through another wall, into the studio and then through a booth where the computer will be
Cheers, chris.

hmm, you might be right, that may not work well, you would prob get a very bad signal.

so lets say you get a wired router something liek This.

you would connect your modem to the router, then the router to the 2 PC's.

both PC's would have to have NIC's (Network Interface cards or network cards) which are fairly cheap if they dont have them.

then both of your computers should be able to connect to the internet together no problem.

Erm I think they do :) not a separate card but at the back of the computer there is a port next to the usb ports, that looks the same as other Network Interface cards ports, but if not il just buy them.
Thanks allot, Chris.
