IP Sharing

Hi everyone! So I searched the net for a computer forum and found this, I really hope you can help me, I'm not so computer smart myself, and I hope I post this in the right section :rolleyes:

Anyway, here it goes:
I'm a member of an SMF forum where we suspect one of the members to pretend she's also someone else on the forum. They write exactly the same, have the same weird spelling mistakes ("stuibed" as in stupid, "scense" as in sense, and "jenus" as in genius), they are never on the forum at the same time.. We confronted her but she denies it. Ok, so "Sarah" says she is a 21 year old from Georgia, USA. And "Jennifer" says she is 15 from Bahrain, Middle East. They knew eachother from another forum, and turns out they have the same IP and it's from Bahrain. They both say they are using Jennifers IP with this program called "IP Sharing", but Jennifer accidently deleted it, but somehow it STILL works. :rolleyes: They are using it because "Sarah" wanted access to some arabian sites only for arabians or something stupid..

My question is, is it possible? Have you heard of this program? Would a 15 year old girl from Bahrain know how to pull it off otherwise? They have the same IP all the time, they've had for like a year.

It is not hard to browse websites through a Proxy. Omega are you saying that because they are women they would not know how to do this?


A proxy is a simple thing to find out information about, and setup. There are also free CGIProxy URL's out there which automatically anonymize your browsing. AND YES it would give them the same IP.


Basically a proxy works like this:
You have a Client computer (the girls) and they enter in a proxy IP and port into IE (Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan settings.. Check use a 'proxy server...'). The clients Browsing will then be passed through the SERVER or PROXY computer. The IP which is reported to the websites they are visiting is the PROXY Servers IP.
 
Alright.. Can there exist a program that would do all this for them? I know this girl, and she's not so smart she would know how to do what you're saying on her own. (not because she's a girl. I'm a girl too)

Proxy surfing is easy, but he is talking about someone surfing the net under the same IP as him. And it's not as easy as simply entering in an IP and clicking finish.

i dont know of a way that can be done... unless they are both using the same proxy....
 
Thanks.. :) (btw I'm a girl :P ) I just think she's making up loads of BS, she can't give us any proof this program exists.
