IPC 8170 switching on/screen problem

I have just purchased a IPC 8170 computer with a smashed screen, lucky for me I had a spare screen in perfect condition so I changed the screen and inverter, these I know are working perfectly.

Now when I 1st switched the machine on after fitting, the screen was completely white with a few weird coloured lines going on up and down etc, after switching the machine on/off a least 15 times the screen cleared and the machine works perfectly (100%).

Now the following day the same thing has happened with the screen having to turn the machine on/off at least 10/12 times, and then again 100% working, the impression I am getting is that the screen is having to warm up, can anyone help.

Many thanks in advance>

Those weird colors could be because the monitor is too close to speakers or too close to something that has a lot of magnitude. It also could be because the monitor is old or just a dodgy screen.

By turning the screen off and on can slowly push away thiose magnetic hues from the screen, if the monitor has degauss capable try pressing that.

I would check the flatcable connection of the new screen.
I have the same with my (very) old Compaq V300,. well, not the same, but something simmilair. i jave stripes on my screen in all kinds of colours you can immagine.. but when i press next to the screen on the casing of the monitor, it disappears. ( A slightly loose connection)

Many thanks for that, it sounds like the same problem, where would I find the flatcable connection please.

Sorry I forgot to ask how do I open the BIOS on this model?
An idiots guide if possible, as you have probably gathered I am a novice but hopefull getting there.
