In the future AT&T will supposedly charge extra for a tethering option (maybe $15-$30 more per month), right now though this is a modification, since AT&T doesn't "officially" support it yet.

No idea, we will find out come next months bill :D

I've tethered quite a few times using PDAnet (an app for jailbroken iPhone's), and that didn't incur any extra charges, so I'm hoping this wont either.
