Ipod Problems

Just today I had a problem with my Ipod. I had to unplug it with out hitting the eject button since I had no option. My Ipod was not recognized by my computer. Then it asked me to update it. I said ok ran the program but it didnt let me update the only option was to restore(reformat). I dont want to since I have approximately 3k songs on it and if I do Im starting over with a Zune.

My question is, is there any way I can get my computer to recognize it again so that I can load new songs on it again? Thats my only problem, it still plays everything on it (well everything ive played so far, I havent gone through 3k songs to try).

 Please help me.

just restore it. ive got 4616 songs and its doesnt take that long to sync. i just recent got a computer with usb 2.0. so when i restored it with my old computer, i had to leave it on over night for all the songs to sync.

You could put all your songs on the computer and then reformat, and after you reformat you could just put them back on. If you have a lot of songs, it might take a while, but you shouldn't lose anything that way.

Like I said my computer wont recongnize it. So I cant copy everything off it then copy it back on.

Second I would restore if everything was on my computer but since my computer is only a Lap Top with 30 GB Hard Drive I dont keep 15 gbs worth of music on the computer. I load a cd up then put it ont he Ipod then delete it from my computer.

I guess Ill be ditching the Ipod then since no one has any help. Anyone want to buy one?
