Ipod synchronization

My wife has an Acer laptop running Windows 8, onto which she's loaded Itunes. Whenever she plugs in either her phone or her ipod, Itunes does not recognize either device.

She's going mad! She's ready to go in and pay someone big bucks to fix this, and I think there should be a simple remedy of one device linked or synched to another.

Whenever Windows runs an update, it always messes things up.

I'd like to be able to help her, but my knowledge of Windows 8 is zero.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes? Is she using the latest version of Itunes?

Yes, that's what was driving her crazy - she's done everything she was supposed to do.

Actually, since I posted, she found a small article on her phone that described exactly what was occurring, and she fixed her own problem.
