iPod

I have an Video iPod I recently bought. The battery on it is horrible. I barely get 4 hours on it. Is there anyway to fix that?

What are you doing?
Like shuffle songs, make back light 2 seconds.
Dont watch movies unless you have a battery backup.

My Sony MP3 player is suppose to last like 24 hours or some crazy amount like that. However, I'm sure that's without the screen, no rewinding/fast forwarding or anything like that. How are you playing back? I've never really used an iPod so I don't know what the typical life should be, but if you've used it pretty heavily, that's probably about right.

I just listen to songs on that. The back light is set for 3 seconds. I don't watch videos. I still get only 4 fours. But I do use the shuffle feature along with playlists...

Thats pretty ridiculous, you should call apple and have it replaced. It sounds like a faulty battery. Ive never owned one but apples typically have good ratings on battery life.

My friend has the same model and he has the same problems...I know Apple says their battery lasts for 12 hours but wat's the typical battery. I use RockBox. Will that reduce the battery time?

I just found this on http://www.onlypunjab.com/tech/fullstory-newsID-1422.html. I'll let you know what my battery is like tomorrow.
he battery life was approximately 8hrs. Then, this battery life decreased to 5hrs last day. I called Applecare ; the guy told me to restore my ipod, then to let it discharge fully, and to refill it for 4 hrs even if the plug icon appear on the ipod screen. After that, I synchronized ipod to itunes and let it play allnight long to see the battery life now. It played music with default settings during 15hrs 'til it shut down. These are the Apple specifications for that ipod. My problem wasn't the battery, but the battery life calibration, which has not been done as it should.
Thanks for the help though...

I also use the equalizer.

The equalizer uses additional battery resources because it has to work the iPod processor. And the best solution is to go to Apple and complain, but first, you can drain all of its battery, and fully charge it. Then see what happens to the battery life.

did you charge the iPod properly when you bought it (its best for liek 16hrs or something)?
and as Styrak said, is it refurbished/old or brand new?

iPods have never been know for their battery life, only for their design. it does help if you arent constantly changing tracks or watching videos.
