IPv6 Opinion Thread

Still seems like it's basically unused, but I'm maybe just in the wrong space to see it in action. I've only ever seen one customer use it for their network setup and that was Facebook.

Agreed. There are some neat advantages when theorycrafting but I can't get my wife to stop mixing up the 3rd/4th octet of an IPv4 address... I'm not gonna even go there.

I pitched a v6 allocation to my current org, our security 'architect' rebuffed quoting that 'I can't read hex'.

Is this a similar situation? :p

I see Praetor is still alive and kicking.

I do believe all the private IP's on cf are related to IPV6 addresses? @beers
If thats the case then they are getting used pretty regularly.

Definitely seeing it more on the internet for public IP's on Comcast and Verizon. Still have yet to see it implemented on a LAN.

IIRC the CDN config has v6 addresses translated into multicast addresses (224.0.0.0+), which makes it impossible to analyze if you're expecting an actual v6 address.
