we were in the EXACT same boat, the DSL companies told us that we were listed as three feet too far away from the hub, so they just couldnt do it. my mom said, "well shit we'll put the damn computer in the backyard, we'll be fine then".... they said no.
luckily comcast came to the rescue with cable internet, gotta love downloading songs in fifteen seconds lmao

put up an addition of your house that consists of legos and/or plywood to grab that extra 3 feet. its worth the DSL
i DO feel your pain...i remember how slow that used to be....i called my local ISP and they said i couldnt get DSL because i was more than 3 miles away from the hub house thingy....i clocked in with my mom in her car and it was less than 2 miles away...so apparently, there's a house with the SAME address on a DIFFERENT road in my mailing zip code.

dialup is FTL. just call up the company and tell those assholes that they suck. its 3 feet, whats the big deal?

The Service person probably doesn't care. Neither does the Customer Service Rep. I'm willing to bet that their immediate supervisor isn't concerned either, but...
...someone, somewhere in the chain of command, is going to realize that people would rather pay considerably more per month on their competitor rather than deal with their poorer service.

3 miles OF PHONE LINE, does not mean 3 miles direct line while driving. The cables dont run from your house directly to the CO.

Anybody else noticed how most people on this forum have computers capable of running so much yet we stick to a forum based predominantly on text?

Being part of this community does not require you to have a super computer. People come here with computer/internet problems. If they cant even get to the webpage, how would they post?
There is no irony here.. And, there is NO way you could argue that most people here have super/advanced/great computers...
I would say if anything MOST people here have average PC's..
