IRQL_not_less_or_equal... AHHHH!!!

I think this has to do with the BIOS so i'm posting it here but if this is not the right place please move it.

Anyway: When i try turning my computer off a blue screen comes up saying "IRQL_not_less_or_equal" (not in quotes). Then it says some stuff about like but not exactly like:
"If this is the first time you have seen this message, try restarting your computer. If you have seen this message before make sure any new hardware is properly installed. If it still shows up press F8 during the bootup process and run your computer on safe mode (not in quotes).

Than it says something like "a 000000X000000 (000000X000001 000000X000002 000000X000003)"(not in quotes) or something like that i'm not sure.

Than it says " Dumping physical memory:" (not in quotes) and starts counting to 100 (maybe 120 or something like that)

Then the computer restarts.

So.... WHAT DO I DO!!!!

It only shows up sometimes when i turn it off. Then sometimes it just shows a black screen and doesn't turn off. But i'm not sure if the blue screen shows up that time because that always happens when I leave the house.

It started happening after I deleted some files to make space on my hard disk. But i didn't delete anything important. I think.

I haven't added any new hardware.

I went into the BIOS a while ago but that was after this happened the first time the blue screen came up. And I didn't change anything.

Will reintsalling windows fix this? (I'm going to do it anyway) Or is it a problem with the BIOS ROM and is the ROM not afected by windows.

Should I ust try following the advice given?

Please help me and explain to me what the repair actualy means so I'll learn something. If you guys need a better description of the blue screen I can give you one.

I used to get that error when my graphics card was going wierd, i downgraded the drivers and now its all OK.

I will try updating drivers since i haven't done that in 4 years.. oops.

If you read closely my post says i haven't installed any new hardware.

But could somebody please explain to me what the mesage means so I can learn something and am not fixing it blindly?

when i got that message i just change irq number to the only other one that i can select but your message might be a differnt eeror.

i've had that message when my memory went bad for some reason.
its also possible to get it when your cpu is overheating, check your temps and swap the ram around to see if it helps
